INSTINCT & SPIRITUALITY

This is a of book jackets for Michelle Yasmine Valladares and her poetry, based on a personal conversation that I shared with the poet herself. Animals are profound beings in her poetry, often times the main subject to interpret life. In my solution, I decided to capture the essence of what it meant to study an animal in two ways: spiritually and instinctively. I used a tribal style tattoo art to represent the spirit/soul, and scientific art to describe instinct.
